Lady BEARS crowned ULU League Champions!

With only five players, Royal Holloway Lady Bears ventured to London to play the final game of the ULU League and the incredible season of 09/10, which had already seen the BEARS crowned champions of the BUCS League, the BUCS Cup and the ULU Cup along with crushing victories at Colours Ball. With a fantastic season behind them, the BEARS gave their opponents even more to anticipate for next season, when Imperial Medics were beaten with 105-29.

The final game of the ULU League, and moreover the whole season of 09/10, had been postponed, and postponed again over the year, and the BEARS started to wonder whether Imperial Medics simply could not raise the courage to encounter the team which dominated the top of the ULU League. Finally, however, Lady Bears got the longed-for invitation to play the game which would decide whether Royal Holloway or LSE would claim the first place.

Scheduled on the very last possible date, technically out of term, many players from RHUL had gone home for Spring break, and a mere five players remained available for the game. If there were any doubts in the minds of the players or coach Tasha Green before the game of the outcome of the league, these were quickly discarded after a shocking start by the BEARS, ending the first quarter 6-32.

With probably the best performance yet in shooting, the Lady Bears quickly scored, and scored again on Imperial Medics, who could not, despite hard effort, constitute any opposition to the soon-to-be ULU League champions. The final blow, in the very last seconds of the game, and a colourful cherry on top of an unbelievable year for the BEARS, the game was finished with an and 1 and a made following free throw. The final numbers, 105 - 29, spoke its own clear language, and the Lady Bears ended on top of their fourth competition, with teams like London South Bank - with several national team players -, LSE, UCL and King's behind them in the table, and only one lost game.
