Cancer Research UK 10km Run 2007

On October 28th members from both the men's and women's basketball clubs took part in a 10km charity run at Dorney Lake, Eton, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. They support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 3,000 scientists, doctors and nurses. Over the past 10 years alone, thousands of lives have been saved through earlier detection and improved treatments.

Despite inclement weather conditions, a particularly challenging (for J) aerobics warm up, and the mens rigourous training regime not forseeing half the course being run in a clockwise direction, the Bears roared round like the elite group of athletes they are.

Julian Bailes and Przemyslaw Niklasinski led the pack finishing in just under 47 minutes, with Candice Moses crossing the line inside the hour mark to lead the women. The women's team were also running the event with basketballs, as if 10km in the rain wasn't challenging enough!

So far the Bears have raised just over $3,000 and are on course to meeting their $5,000 target by the donation deadline in two weeks time. You can still make your contribution by following the link below!

Well done to all those that took part:
